Amazingly, good things like this really do happen to people sometimes. But, it's rare ... only so much serendipity will come together and land in your lap all at once.
But it did happen to me. Who woulda thunk it? Lately I've had such a streak of bad luck and it's lasted so long I was beginning to think my middle name must be "Job."
Long-lost friend who should have cut me loose ages ago (I am so bad at maintaining long-distance relationships), welcomed me back in her life just when I decided I wanted to be there again too. And, holy moley, literally days after we struck up our friendship again, she WON a trip for two, courtesy the Venetian hotel/casino, to cruise New England and spend a week enjoying the change of seasons, being pampered like royalty. And, yes, she invited ME to be her guest.
Seriously -- how does one's luck turn around like that? I fer shur did nothing to deserve it.
No thought required, tho -- I said YES, and my long-lost friend and I set off to renew our friendship and (p.s.) got spoiled like crazy and shared the most incredible vacation ever!
We flew a charter from Las Vegas to New York, boarded the cruise ship and set out on our journey to Halifax, Nova Scotia, then down the coast to Maine (yummy lobster! YES!), Boston and Salem Mass. Rhode Island, and back to Brooklyn.
The fall foliage was at its peak, and I was in heaven.
I must thank my kidnicks for making this trip possible by subsidizing the out-of-pocket costs -- I am so broke right now I couldn't have paid for a cup of coffee or a subway token, let alone contribute to the expected tipping onboard the cruiseship, etc., without their help. Indeed, without their help, I couldn't have done any of this. God bless generous children.
Here are some pictures from this incredible journey I was so lucky to have. Thank you Donna -- thank you Karen, and thank you Amanda. It was an experience I'll never forget.
